Summer Institute 2019

 

Over 60 participants joined us at Ojibway Park outside Sioux Lookout at our annual Summer Institute from August 26-28, 2019. Workshops included topics such as language, culture, self-regulation, music, writing, math, and art.

Elders Symposium May28-29-30-2019

Elder's Symposium 2019

 

Over 50 Elders from over 17 First Nation communities in the district gathered together at Donnelly’s Minnitaki Lodge situated on the shores of the Pickerel Arm, on May 27, 28 and 29 to share and discuss First Nation languages and keep the old ways of speaking and understanding alive.

Language Circles

 

Starting in November of 2018 Kwayaciiwin and the Adult Education Partnership came together to bring monthly Language Circles to the community of Sioux Lookout. Special guests such as Ballena Anderson, Charles Brown, Kathy Wesley, Anna Phelan and many more came to lead the circle and share their knowledge.
