Some of the known power saving modes may only include a relatively short sleep period that does not consume power while allowing the wireless communication device to transition between active and inactive states. Some of the known power saving modes may include a relatively long sleep period that requires a relatively large amount of power consumption while allowing the wireless communication device to transition between active and inactive states. However, some of the known power saving modes may not include a relatively long sleep period and also may not include a relatively short sleep period. Accordingly, the wireless communication device that includes the known power saving modes may enter an active state unnecessarily. Further, if a need for active state arises during a sleep period of the known power saving modes, the wireless communication device may have to wait for the next sleep period before entering the active state. As a result, the wireless communication device may be required to spend relatively more time in the active state and therefore may consume relatively more power during the active state.
