The 2019 Elder’s Symposium has come and gone. Over 50 Elder’s from over 17 First Nation communities in the district gathered together at Donnelly’s Minnitaki Lodge situated on the shores of the Pickerel Arm, on May 27, 28 and 29 to share and discuss First Nation languages and keep the old ways of speaking and understanding alive.
Facilitators and writers from the communities were also in attendance recording the knowledge shared by the elders during the three days of language sessions. Traditional food was served over an open fire daily and prepared for the elders and event attendees, as well as entertainment and hands-on demonstrations showcasing traditional skills.
